2021 was filled with some great books for me. I hit 101 books read, which bested my goal of 85. Above is pictured 9 of my favorites, to follow is a review of a few.

Everything Sad is Untrue

I laughed, I cried, I shook with outrage. Daniel Nayeri shares his tale of moving from Iran to Oklahoma from a middle schooler's point of view. Harrowing and hilarious.

Rock Paper Scissors

After reading this twisty tale about the destruction of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Wright, I binged all of the other books by Alice Feeney. There isn't much better (for a book nerd) than discovering a new author with a bunch of books to her credit.

The Push

Ashley Audrain weaves a shocking tale of motherhood. I could not put this one down.

The Diary of a Young Girl

I always assumed I had read this journal by Anne Frank. I definitely did not. I now have a little disappointment in the Montana public school system for that omission. My husband and I listened to this one on audio book, in preparation for a planned (probably won't happen) trip to Amsterdam. I vacillated between anger and sadness, and ended the book with what I like to call the 'Cry Beard' (crying such a copious amount that your entire neck and chest is wet...yep).
