How Sweet It Is

I was such a late bloomer in the love department. I used to call this part of February as "Hell Week". My birthday pushes right into V-Day, it was a single lady nightmare. I am grateful for the many, many years at the schoolhouse when my teaching team would buy me cake and lunch and listen to my lonely whining.
Then Spencer proposed to me on my birthday, and now I basically celebrate the entire month of February.
Here are a few memorable sweet treats!
Just Like Homer
It is kind of hard to surprise me after so many years together, but Spencer still manages to pull a quick one from time to time. These breakfast goodies from Chin Up Donuts in Scottsdale were so cute and tasty!

Sonoma

This was such a good birthday. I got to see my brother Casey in San Francisco, then we stayed in wine country. This cake was some kind of caramel brown butter magic from The Girl and The Fig and I ate it for breakfast every day after my celebration. I still think about that cake.
Milestone

The worst tasting (so dry!) and most beautiful cake was for one of *those* big birthdays. It tasted like cardboard but I couldn't stop looking at it. Bonus points for you if you get that clever True Romance (one of my favorite movies, thoughtful husband) references.
Cupcakes

I love cupcakes. There was zero good food in South Georgia and we were there for a few years. Magnolia is one of the best, I was so happy to get these little yummies in the mail.
Times Two

This beauty from We Take The Cake was almost too lovely to eat. Almost. The funny story about this one was that there was some glitch in The Matrix and they ended up delivering two cakes. For two people!
Living The Dream

One glorious year the stars aligned and my birthday landed on The Super Bowl. These football treats from Decadent Macaron in Gilbert, Arizona were beyond good.
Indulgence

Oh man this was straight up chocolate and peanut butter. Spencer got this for me in Brookhaven, Georgia from the now closed Sugar Shack. So good.

There have also been countless restaurant desserts and one memorable singing episode at a Bubba Gump Shrimp in San Francisco that still haunts me. I am feeling super thankful to have someone that celebrates me every day, and really brings his A-game in February.

After eating a terrible football cake yesterday from Whole Foods, I realize I will always miss the cake and whipped cream frosting from Publix.

Do you have a favorite birthday treat!?
